The Story Behind Cosmic Octopus
March 2020
The world shut down
2020 the world shut down.
Richard decided it was time to build the ultimate drum bunker to protect his music from the next crisis (and the 50 plus thereafter).
Richard built the Octopus Studio.
Then started work piecing together guitar and bass lines spanning the last few decades into what would become his debut album 'Cosmic Octopus'.
Richard started out playing drums after bashing the dashboard of his dads' car along to Nirvana's "in bloom" with his older brother shouting at him to "just play the drums if you're going to be this annoying".
Later Richard would steal his brother's guitar after being told
"those drums are too darn loud, shut the heck up."
As he wanted to keep playing music, he felt larceny was the only option.
After a while, Richard's brother was fed up of his guitar being stolen and, in his words, "put horrendously out of tune", so he bought Richard his own guitar and told him never to touch his again.
Richard fell in love with playing music and most of all writing new music, playing in dozens of bands and being 'let go' for being "somewhat of a d**k".
In 2020 the world shut down, and Richard decided to build a drum studio so he could play the drums for the rest of his life without being told to shut the heck up.
After completion, he decided to create a fun Funk Rock album comprised of music he'd written throughout out his time playing. He decided the world had become a dark boring place and needed livening up with something a bit fun.
After much falling down and pulling back up 2026 was the year he released...
COSMIC OCTOPUS.
Enough Doom and Gloom...
Time for some Fun(k)
